How will you be ringing in the New Year? We asked four stylish local women to dress for their versions of New Year’s Eve. Their ensembles, which range from sequins and denim to billowy sleeves and beautiful prints, are an indicator of where fashion is heading. Many of the clothes we’ll be seeing in 2022 will combine the comfort we came to crave during the pandemic with elevated aesthetic details.

Hopefully, this new direction and these stunning but unfussy looks will inspire you to leave the sweatpants behind in 2021. And that’s another reason to celebrate!

Cara is wearing: Trina Turk sequin sweater, $248, and pants, $325, at Rodeo Drive. Shoes and earrings, Cara’s own.

“We celebrate at home with close friends and kids, but I would never not dress up for New Year’s Eve! The idea of comfortable sequins is very me.”
— Cara Biery (with baby emmett), co-owner, J Michael’s Spa & Salon

Eva is wearing: BB Dakota Beaded dress, $85, at Mamili in Nulu. Earrings, jacket and boots, Eva’s own.

“I spend the holiday with my family, but we all dress up whether we go out to dinner or cook at home. I like layers, and pairing a blazer with a little black dress feels relaxed and festive.”
— Eva Melissa Astidullo, Business and Strategic Development Coordinator at La Casita Center

Danielle is wearing: Sweater, $159; jeans, $159; and earrings, $15; at Mamili in Nulu. Marc Fischer boots and necklace, Danielle’s own.

“We’re going to a wedding this year, so it will be a big night out. This sparkly sweater would be perfect for the after-party!”
