Louisville’s iconic Belvedere is set for a major transformation! During his State of the City address, Mayor Craig Greenberg unveiled striking new renderings showcasing a modern, nature-inspired design for the beloved public space.

Created by London-based Heatherwick Studio, the proposed renovation features a flowing, biophilic structure that seamlessly blends indoor and outdoor gathering areas. With past projects like the Olympic Cauldron for the 2012 London Games and Google’s Bay View campus, this firm is known for bold, innovative designs—and Louisville’s riverfront is next on their list.

Public input has played a key role in shaping this vision, and there’s still time to share your thoughts! Fill out the city’s survey here to have your voice heard in the future of this 51-year-old landmark.

Leading the charge for this project is Layla George, former President and CEO of the Olmsted Parks Conservancy, who will serve as the Project Executive for the Belvedere’s redevelopment.
