What To Do This Weekend

Jan 17, 2019 | This Weekend

Attend the ninth annual Keepers of the Dream event, featuring the presentation of the Mayor’s Freedom Award, ArtsReach Living the Vision Awards, reflections on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., along with dance, music, and spoken word. The Mayor’s Freedom Award will be presented to Diane Porter, educator and Jefferson County Public Schools board chair.

Attend a tradition at the Ali Center — free screenings of Martin Luther King, Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech, every hour on the hour, from 10am to 4pm. Following the 11am screening, members from the Ali Center’s Youth Programs will participate in a forum, sharing how they, as youth, are continuing the life and legacy of Martin Luther King Jr., and pizza will be provided on a first-come, first-serve basis to all guests.

The Louisville Orchestra presents the music of Russian composer, Pyotr Tchaikovsky, including the 1812 Overture, Romeo and Juliet Fantasy Overture, and The Tempest as part of Music Without Borders

On the third Friday of the month, the Museum will be open until 10 pm! Each After Hours at the Speed event comes alive with an eclectic mix of music, performances, food + drinks by Wiltshire at The Speed Art Museum, and of course art! After Hours includes programming designed for families from 5-7 pm, all ages welcome! Come experience the Speed like you’ve never experienced it before.
