How To Match The Right Way

Sometimes, when it comes to a major event or a fun day where fashion plays an important role, we tend to get carried away and go overboard. Trying to match every item and keeping your colors all the same can be too over the top. While the outfit above might all match, it is too "matchy-matchy" as we like to say. Here's how to simplify it and tone down the matchy madness.

First, choose one statement piece. That means either the head piece or the dress, and then go from there. You don't want everything competing with one another. For example, in the outfit above, the dress is colorful, bright and bold. While the fascinator has all the same colors in it and seems to match perfectly, the two are now competing. Keep the dress and swap out the fascinator for a solid color. The fascinator used below would work perfectly.

Next, the red shoes and chunky red bracelet are also matching but it takes the red theme over the top. To fix it, swap out the chunky colored jewelry for some simple, dainty pieces. Next, instead of the red shoes, try a nude tone. The red might match but they will compete with the red fascinator and bold dress.

Sometimes matching doesn't have to match at all in some cases. The outfit below is a good example. The dress is a fun, bold dress that has some flare to it so we kept the fascinator simple while still tying in some of the same colors and went with a leopard sandal to keep it neutral. Simple jewelry and a nude clutch tie in just right, keeping the spotlight on the dress while still making it one well put together outfit.
