Arts Insider Pick of the Week: Seven Brides for Seven Brothers

Derby Dinner Playhouse closes out their 40th Anniversary season with Seven Brides for Seven Brothers that will take you back to the glory days of the movie musical. Full of romance and foot-stomping dances, this is the saga of a young bride in the Oregon wilderness who plans to ‘pretty up’ her six rowdy brother-in-laws and then marry them off.  Add an abduction, an avalanche, and a seven shot-gun wedding, and you’ve got a rip-roaring charmer full of boisterous fun.

Based on the popular 1954 MGM film starring Howard Keel and Jane Powell, the musical features such musical numbers as Bless Your Beautiful Hide, and Glad That You Were Born. Last produced at DDP in 2002, the lead male character, Adam Pontifee, is played by Edward Miskee, who also played George Bailey at DDP’s 2014 production of It’s A Wonderful Life.
