Wedding experts weigh in on upcoming bridal trends

It probably comes as no surprise that approximately 33 percent of engagements happen between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Day. Each fall, wedding professionals are on high alert and are trend spotting for the upcoming season. They are eager to offer engaged couples insight on the hottest trends as well as the tried and true traditions.

According to Kenny Sauter, owner of Masters of Music, uplighting continues to be one of the top trends for d├ęcor. Advances in technology have made it even more impressive. The newest lights are battery operated allowing them to be placed almost anywhere. Wireless controls offer options to change colors and saturation throughout the evening. For an outdoor reception, string lights on a dimmer are a perfect solution.

The right lighting can transform a room’s atmosphere. Louisville continues to embrace this trend. Brides eager to embrace Pantone’s 2015 Spring/Summer releases will be color-washing walls and ceilings in ‘tangerine’, ‘treetop’ and ‘scuba blue’. The newest lighting trend for 2015 is animated monograms. These are perfect to screen before a photo montage at the reception and can also be the perfect addition to a wedding DVD.

What’s new for wedding day video? Chuck Biddle of IC Video says the number one trend is Steadicam-like filming. Technology has advanced to the point of providing wedding filmmakers with small handheld stabilizers that allow for an ‘in the moment feel’. This technology will present a unique style and look previously unavailable.

Do you want to create a video of all the craziness and mayhem of the day? Chuck recommends the new slow motion video.  “It's a photo booth on steroids.” A slow motion booth allows your guest to create a magical experience.  Your guests create interesting footage by doing anything from dancing to popping champagne or confetti. A high definition video camera records at super slow motion to create some incredible images.
