Local Derby Favorites: Fresh foods found in Louisville

This year, whether you're planning a Derby party or going to a small get-together, try buying your food fresh and local. Louisville offers a numbers of farmers markets and places to buy unique items to spice up any kitchen, party, or meal.

These local breads are perfect for a hot brown bar at your Derby party. The asiago cheese bread can be found at Breadworks (only available on Tuesdays and Saturdays) and the pretzel croissants below can be found at Klaus Bakery (available at Anchorage Cafe, Beargrass Church and Bardstown Rd. farmers' markets).

As seen in our April issue, a few other local places to get your Derby goodies are:
  • A Taste of Kentucky
  • Old 502 Winery
  • Klaus Bakery
  • Beth Fowle at Full Heart Farm (found at local farmers' market around Louisville including Bardstown Rd., and St. Matthews)
  • The Cheddar Box Cafe
  • Garey Farms booths (found at these farmers' markets: Norton Commons, St. Matthews, Douglas Loop, Louisville Farmers' Market at Landis Lakes)
  • Breadworks
