Get the Most Out of Your Jeans This Fall

As we head into fall, jeans become one of my most essential pieces of clothing.  From dress down Friday’s to a million birthday parties, soccer games and maybe just a few girl’s night outs, I can always count of my jeans to get me through.  Here are a few styling tips to get the most out of your jeans and a few care-tips to keep them at their peak condition!

Care Tips:
  1.  Dark denim? Always wash inside out!  The dye in the dark denim can most certainly escape while being washed so to keep your other clothes safe just turn them inside out.  Washing them this way will also keep the color darker and helps it not to fade.
  2. Minimal washing.  I typically like to wash my jeans after a few wears and with a great quality pair of jeans – you can do that.  Try to get about 1-2% spandex, that way they will whip right back into place after you wear them avoiding any sagging areas.
  3. Hang them up! By hanging up your jeans you will allow them to have more breathing room and allow you to see your different options.

Styling Tips:
  • Balance is Key.  When wearing a super tight skinny jean – keep the top flowy and loose.  Boyfriend jeans?  Find a nice fitted top that has more structure.
  • The right fit.  Even if you are in a size smaller – it could make you look a size bigger!  Jeans are cut and designed so differently that your size will always fluctuate between styles and brands.  So go for a great fit and not your “ideal” size.
  • Add a belt! A lot of people get bored with jeans, but with the right accessories – there are so many ways to dress them up or keep them low key.  Adding a cute belt and slightly tucking in your shirt will define your waist and keep your look updated.
