Meet Rebecca Weis! And Her Shoes

Rebecca Weis is excited about the new footsteps she's making for others to follow.

Rebecca Weis
Job: Attorney, Stites & Harbison

What is your greatest accomplishment?
Professionally, my greatest accomplishment is working side by side with Kentucky's best and brightest attorneys at Stites & Harbison. Outside of work, I will soon begin my term as the President of the Young Professionals Association of Louisville (YPAL), which is Louisville's largest business networking organization.

Whose footsteps are you following in?
My boss, Shannon Hamilton. She is an excellent employment law attorney. She does a good job of balancing her work and personal life, and she seems to follow a motto that I would like to follow which is work hard, play hard.

Are you creating a new path? What is it?
I am carving a unique path because I am in the early stages of my career and building my career, but also giving back to the community through YPAL by helping recruit and retain young professionals to Louisville.

Where do you like to walk?
Cherokee Park.

What has been the longest walk you've had in your life?
Going through four years of earning a bachelor's degree and going through three years of law school. It was the longest walk, and one that I am proud of because I am a first generation college graduate.

Have you ever felt like you were walking on a tightrope?
If I have, I feel like there have been people there to help me walk across it.
Do you always walk the straight and narrow or do you stray sometimes? If so, when?
I am a straight and narrow girl. When I get my sights on something, I just take the straight line to it.

Have you ever walked alone when it came to a way of thinking or something you were fighting for?
When I was student body president at the University of Kentucky, I took a stance on something that others disagreed with, and I fought for it and was successful. I did weigh the gravity of the circumstances, but at the end of the day, I believed in what I did. I am always willing to follow the courage of my convictions.
