A makeup tip you need for Derby

Brighten Your Face with Color

Jennifer Barber in a hat by Rebecca Vance (812.944.7047) Makeup by Lorie Karnes

Look like a natural beauty on Derby day with these suggestions from makeup artist Lorie Karnes.

For the Track: It is all about the hat on Oaks and Derby, so I love adding a pop of color on the lips that is bold and compliments the hat. A pinup-esque look is a classic, fresh, winning look for any woman.

For a Derby Event: This is Louisville’s Oscars, so I say, ‘be glam!’ Use false lashes and apply some beautiful shimmer on the upper cheekbones to give your face a fresh look.

Stay Ahead of the Game: Since a stylist’s schedule fills up fast at this time of year, make your appointment in advance.

What I like about the Today’s Woman shoots: Working with Today's Woman is always a pleasure because it empowers women to be who they want to be. Working with celebrities and red carpet events is amazing, but the everyday women that we all are can connect with the faces in Today's Woman. I loved working with the real women in their Derby issue this year.
